생동하는 기운이 부챗살처럼 퍼지는 오월. 인당박물관은 독특한 발상과 기법을 대담한 스케일로 풀어놓는 작가 김길후의 작품으로 맞으려 합니다. 조급하게 서두른다고 꽃 없이 열매가 영그는 법이 없듯이, 잰걸음이 아니라 단단하고 우직하게 걸어온 이 작가는 침묵으로 깨우치는 묵언의 수련자처럼 느림과 정적인 공간을 소유하고 있습니다. 그의 작품에는 찬란한 슬픔이 묻어나는가 하면 희망이 없는 곳에서 희망을 기다리는 이에게 한없이 따뜻한 위로를 건네기도 합니다.

작가는 늘 “화가는 운명의 절벽에서 자신을 던져야 한다”고 말합니다. 나아갈 것인지, 물러날 것인지에 대한 선택의 여지 없다는 것이지요. 13시간 이상을 화실에 붙박여 작품을 해왔기에 작품의 양은 방대합니다. 그러한 작가에게서 한 치의 게으름도 허용하지 않는 엄결성과 그림에의 뜨거운 열망을 읽을 수 있었습니다.

May, when everything is full of light and vigor, the Indang Museum will be hosting an exhibition of the works of Dong-gi Kim, who has demonstrated his unique ideas and techniques through his artistic works in a liberal- and open-minded manner. A flower never bears fruit before it blooms, no matter what we do. Likewise, this artist has attained his own way of taking time and going slow in a quiet manner, like a monk who receives enlightenment while remaining silent and composed. Consequently, his works, which are inspired by his splendid sorrow, will infinitely comfort those who are waiting for a ray of hope amid hopelessness.

The artist always says, "An artist shall plunge himself/herself over the cliff of his/her fate. " This means that the artist has no choice butto go forward or go down. It also gives us a glimpse of the serious fact that artists, who have to be stuck in their studio for more than 13 hours a day, should never be lazy and should never lose their great enthusiasm for their art.
