Kim has long lived and worked in Daegu, South Korea, and has set up a studio in Beijing in recent years. Daegu's quiet modern pastoral life, deep Buddhist tradition, and increasingly international and multicultural Beijing have become his main nourishments.

In recent years, the works have used black lacquer as the material, and through continuous grinding on the canvas, the picture presents a sense of black and heavy relief, trying to depict the ideal portrait of the contemporary sage, but in the end it is empty and helpless.

The faces of the characters in the work are almost expressionless, most of them are closed, and they seem to enter the Buddhist state of meditation, which is directly related to his penchant for creating and thinking in a quiet environment and advocating the spirit of Eastern Buddhism, and the artist says that his creation is "an inner resume sitting on time and space", so through our works, we can enter the artist's heart and dialogue with it. As a middle-class force in Korean art, Kim Gil-Hu's art is a new consideration of modern Korean art. The art he pursues is neither overly Westernized, nor blindly classical, but based on the unique introspective experience of Eastern culture.

Kim Gil-Hu was born in South Korea in 1961 and currently lives and works in Daegu and Beijing. He has participated in many international group exhibitions and held solo exhibitions, and his works have been collected by many art museums. It is reported that the exhibition will last until December 12.
